Here's what kind of environment you can expect from Lutheran High:

Mission Statement

Small classrooms like the one shown below contain anywhere from 2 to 25 students, and certainly no more than 30 students. This way teachers can be personal with students and get to know them individually. Students get the attention and the help that they need to succeed in whatever subject they are enrolled in.

There is a mandatory once a week chapel service that is performed by students, a pastor, faculty, or the ASB. Keeping a close relationship with God is a good way to help out with life's difficulties. The service is typically 45 minutes long and is followed by a short 10 minute break before starting another class. Chapel is usually held in Holy Spirit, which is just outside the campus. If we can not hold it there it is held in O'Leary Hall on campus (pictured below.)

Although our library is a little dated, thanks to the hard efforts of our systems administrator, we have an up-to date computer lab with 15 computers. We have a Cox dedicated business high speed internet line that insures fast internet and plenty of bandwidth for everyone. Students each have their own personal account on campus that allows them to customize their computer any way that they want (within moral limits of course). Students are also permitted 200 megabytes of personal space for their documents, music or whatever they wish. Our system administrator is on call to ensure that everything is running smoothly.

We also have a small science lab that is used for Biology, Chemistry, Anatomy, and AP Biology. Here kids get to learn in a fun and interesting environment thanks to the work of Ms. Howard our Science instructor. Everything is closely monitored to ensure that students remain on-track and that no accidents happen.

Seniors have the opportunity to sign up for off-campus lunch, giving them some extra time to go off campus and find a place that they wish to eat at during the lunch hour.

Students also have the opportunity to make their school better by joining the Associated Student Body (ASB). Here, students learn school politics, organize school-wide events, class competitions that raise money for the class' senior prom, and fun school programs and games that students can enjoy. In addition, at the beginning of the school year students of their particular class are given the chance to run for various class positions, like class president, vice president, ASB representative, public relations, or treasurer.

All in all, you will find that Lutheran High is a great place to send your child. Our graduation rate onto college is more than 90 percent, and students leave LHS with friends, unforgettable memories, and an education that is worth more than they know. If you desire, you can set up an appointment to take a tour of the school. Call the school office at 619-262-4444 to schedule a time that you wish to come see the school and bring your child with you so that they can experience Lutheran High for themselves. A student shadow can also be arranged to take your student with him during the entire school day so he or she can experience a typical school day.

Thank you for visiting, and we hope you will consider Lutheran High as a place to send your child.
